About Healthier with Helena

Welcome to Healthier with Helena! I’m Helena Ramadan, the creator of this website, and I’m so glad that you’re here! This blog covers a lot of nutrition- and health-related topics that are near and dear to my heart. Overall, my goal is to teach you about real nutrition, to help you feel confident in what you are eating, and to improve your health.

I’ve divided the blog into categories, each of which represents a different aspect of the journey to better health. Feel free to start at whichever place feels most relevant to you right now. Whether you know a lot about nutrition, or whether you’re not even sure of the basics, it is my sincere hope that this site will have something you can use to improve your health and your relationship with food.

I want to make this site as useful as possible, so if there is a topic you would like me to discuss, or if there is something you’d like me to clarify, please contact me to let me know.

About Helena Ramadan, MS, RDN

Registered Dietitian Nutritionist & Certified Health Coach

Hello, I’m Helena! I’m a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN), a health coach, and a mom, and I’ve always loved being active and eating healthy. I started this blog to share what I know about nutrition and health so others can use that knowledge to improve their lives.

In addition to being a dietitian, I also have a bachelor’s degree in English and I love to write. I currently live in the Tacoma area with my husband and two children. When I am not blogging, I love fitness, spending time outdoors with my family, and reading. I also enjoy sewing, crochet, and other types of crafting.

My Approach & Values

  • Accuracy is so important to me. As a dietitian, I only provide information that is based on facts. There is just too much nutrition misinformation out there. That’s why you’ll find evidence-based health and nutrition articles on my blog. You’ll notice that I include links and references throughout these articles; that’s because I look things up before hitting “publish.” I want to make sure the information I provide is both accurate and useful.
  • I also believe that food should be enjoyable and nourishing, not another stressor. One of the goals of this blog is to improve not just your health, but your relationship with food too. I do not believe in following strict eating regimens or eliminating entire food groups from your diet (unless it is medically necessary). I came to adopt this philosophy after working as an eating disorder dietitian.
  • It is important to be flexible and have a more neutral relationship with food – and your body. Therefore, I aim to have nonjudgmental language on my blog. I also strive to be weight-inclusive, and I believe in the Health At Every Size (HAES) model. I will recommend resources to help you understand these viewpoints, and perhaps even adopt them.
